The Colorado Consistory - Denver, CO
In January of 1989, Robert E. Fitzgerald led the effort to have the Colorado Consistory No. One, the newly designated headquarters of the Rocky Mountain Masonic organizations, listed as a Denver Landmark. Soon after, he designed and coordinated the renovation of the 14,000 s.f. grand ballroom of the Scottish Rite Temple which had suffered years of neglect and water damage. Within a year, Fitzgerald, who was with the Mulhern Group as their Senior Design Associate at the time, continued with the second phase of renovation of the historic building which included the complete design and furnishing of the organization's meeting rooms and Masonic libraries as well as the complete renovation of the antique and marble-clad restrooms which, had also been covered over through time. The renovation was deemed responsible for the survival of the ancient organization in Colorado and for the later development of the sites adjacent to the landmarked Consistory.
