The Deer Crest Ski Resort
In preparation for the 2002 Winter Olympics, Robert Fitzgerald was asked to put together a master plan and a schematic design for what was essentially to become an addition to the Snow Park Day Lodge near Park City. The project was to include a 400-room hotel and several floors of luxury condominium development.

The Ritz Carlton Club Vail
If the ArraBelle was intended to have been built over time, comprised of 32 different facades, and built by different owners at varying time periods in both good and hard times - all of which one might expect with a village core; the Ritz Carlton's story line tells of a singular huge Chateau on the distant hill.

The ArraBelle at Vail Square
Considered to be "the primary Opus" of Robert Fitzgerald's career so far, The ArraBelle began its life as the Lionshead Core Area Redevelopment. Fitz inherited a minimal master plan from one of his collaborating firms and went off into a six-year journey bent on re-inventing Lionshead's image, re-connecting Lionshead with Vail Village, and re-positioning Lionshead as one of the world's great ski portals to one of the world's best ski resorts.

The Regal Riverfront Hotel
When first encountered, this hotel sat decaying in the shadow of the St. Louis Arch as a member of the Clarion franchise. Built as a less than stellar example of the modernist design style in the early 1960's, the complex consisted of one tall circular tower and an elliptical later addition for its hotel rooms, connected by a cast in place two story concrete base that housed the back of house, conference rooms and an incredibly small and under-whelming arrival desk.

Vail's Front Door
Like Founder's Park and Garage, Vail's Front Door was an attempt by Vail Resorts Development Company to integrate much-needed service and hospitality elements into their existing ski resort facilities and in place of random uses and mis-placed structures. In the case of this important project, VRDC worked for nearly five years with Robert Fitzgerald and his team to carefully insert a very large parking and service building below ground on the very soil where the first skiers on the hill once ended their day.
