The Golf Course Villas at The Yellowstone Club - Big Sky, MT
Naka Designs, LLC was selected very early in its existence to be both the architects and interior designers of a very large phase of development at the well-known Yellowstone Club in Montana; a private ski resort and golf community. Our work is to appear along the links of the Thomas Daniel Weiskopf-designed 18-hole golf course, one of the most dramatic in the country. The primary task for the integrated design group was to conceive of three prototype models for what will eventually be 31 single-family residences directly adjacent to the first and second fairways of the incredible mountainside club. The intention of the design team was to create similar, though adaptable and quite flexible prototype models which could produce varying and strongly personal, though speculatively developed homesteads. For the environment, these homes are cabins really, which take complete advantage of the incredible setting, amazing mountain valley views, and secure yet informal lifestyle of the place. Consistent with the established aesthetic of previous Yellowstone Club construction, these homes still manage to utilize elements consistent with contemporary living while still exceeding the expectations of those interested in a rustic Montana tradition.
